A 27-year-old man who was preparing to get married passed away suddenly and was laid to rest in his wedding suit, which had his wedding vows carefully embroidered inside, reported Shin Min Daily News.
It was reported last Friday (Aug 15), Nathaniel Tan, 27, died in hospital on Tuesday (Aug 12). He had suffered from brain vascular malformations since young and went through several treatments. Sadly, he never woke up after his final surgery.
Even in death, Tan chose to help others. His two kidneys, a liver and an iliac artery were donated, believed to have saved the lives of four patients.
Tan’s wake is being held at Block 136 Yishun Ring Road.

His mother, 62 years old, shared that her son and his fiancée were childhood classmates who later fell in love during their polytechnic days. They had planned to marry this November.
“He was a romantic and very talented. When he proposed last year, he even composed a special piece of music for her,” she said.
At the wake, a standee of Tan in his wedding suit was displayed. His mother also revealed that he was dressed in the very suit he had planned to wear on his wedding day, with a cross on him.
The suit had been tailored long ago, but after his health declined and he lost weight, it was urgently sent to Beijing for alterations before being brought back to be used as his burial attire. Inside the suit, his vows were delicately embroidered.
Tan’s mother also wrote a thousand-word letter in memory of her son, thanking everyone who had been part of his life.
She especially expressed gratitude to his fiancée, who stood by him until the very end, and said she would always treat her as a daughter.
In her letter, she also thanked all relatives, friends and schoolmates who loved him, writing, “Though his 27 years of life were short, they were made rich and brilliant because of all of you.”
