BlueSG Customer Service Agent Jailed for Driving Illegally 150 Times

Man Sentenced to Jail and Fine for Using Friend's Account to Drive BlueSG Cars
A former customer service agent with BlueSG, Muhammad Fadhli Anuar, 24, has been sentenced to seven months and six weeks in jail. He was also banned from getting a driving license for three years after using his friend’s account to illegally drive BlueSG cars 150 times.

What did he do?

Fadhli pleaded guilty to four charges, including dishonestly getting services from BlueSG, driving without a license and insurance, and trying to obstruct justice by asking his friend to lie to the police. The court heard that he had access to BlueSG’s internal databases as a customer service agent. This allowed him to change rental durations and trip times, and even give vouchers to customers.
Around August 20, 2023, Fadhli convinced his friend to create a BlueSG account. He then created the account for her using her details and got a colleague to help authenticate the subscription. Fadhli downloaded the app on his own phone, linked his credit card, and started using the account to rent cars for himself. His friend knew he had created the account, but didn’t know he was using it to drive without a license.
Between August 20, 2023, and June 1, 2024, Fadhli drove the cars 150 times. On eight of those times, he misused his access to the internal system to change the rental duration to zero minutes. “This effectively allowed the accused to rent vehicles for free,” the prosecutor said.

BlueSG Records Loss of $650

As a result, BlueSG lost about S$650, which the company later deducted from his salary.
When BlueSG’s human resources team found out about unauthorised changes to rental trips, they filed a police report on May 28, 2024.
Fadhli was identified as one of the staff involved. A few days later, on June 4, Fadhli texted his friend, asking her to inform the police that the account was hers and she was unaware of the changes. Luckily, the friend didn’t go along with it and did not give a false statement.
The prosecutor sought a longer jail term for Fadhli, calling him a highly recalcitrant offender who had abused a position of trust. The prosecutor also noted that he had tricked a colleague into helping him by saying he was helping his friend save money, when in reality, the accused’s colleague was helping him save on rental fees.
The judge said Fadhli showed a blatant disregard for the law by driving so many times without a license. The judge noted that such offences are difficult to detect and that driving without insurance exacerbated the situation.
Fadhli, who was not represented by a lawyer, asked for leniency, saying he had “complied with everything” during the case and had an elderly person at home to care for. Fadhli will start his jail term in September.
