Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Malaysia’s former two-time Prime Minister, has reached a remarkable milestone: his 100th birthday.
While his actual birth date is July 10, 1925, he celebrated this special occasion a few days earlier, sharing the joy with others at a local coffee shop.
A recent Facebook post on July 6 showed Mahathir looking happy, sitting in front of a birthday cake as those around him sang “Happy Birthday.” The celebration took place at the Ampang branch of Kolumpo Kopitiam.
The restaurant shared that Mahathir simply dropped by for breakfast, making their morning truly special. They remarked, “Tun’s presence brightened our morning and became a meaningful memory for all Kolumpo Kopitiam citizens.”
Remembering that Mahathir made history when he became the world’s oldest prime minister, not just in Malaysia but globally. This happened after Pakatan Harapan’s surprising win in the 2018 general election, which ended a very long period of rule by Barisan Nasional.
Even at his advanced age, Mahathir remains actively involved in both politics and social media. He continues to travel internationally and regularly shares his thoughts on important matters concerning Malaysia and the wider world.
Just a couple of weeks before his birthday, he was spotted driving a Proton e.MAS 7, which is the car manufacturer’s very first electric vehicle, shows his continued engagement with modern developments.
His journey has been a long and impactful one, from leading the country for over two decades in his first stint as prime minister to returning to power in 2018 at the age of 92. His ability to stay active and engaged in public life at 100 years old is truly inspiring.
