In a recent media release, it was announced that a new Jalan Kayu Town Council (JKTC) will be formed to serve residents in the newly created Jalan Kayu Single Member Constituency (SMC).
This reorganisation follows the conclusion of the General Election 2025 and is in line with the Town Councils Act, which limits each town council to a maximum of three constituencies.
NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng, who was elected as Member of Parliament for Jalan Kayu SMC, will chair JKTC. He gave a clear assurance to residents: there will be no disruption to municipal services, and no changes to Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) during the transition.
“I assure Jalan Kayu residents that there will be no disruption to their municipal services nor any changes in S&CC during this transition,” Ng said in the official release.
“We are also reviewing development plans for Jalan Kayu and look forward to sharing some exciting updates in August.”
Ng’s statement reflects the promises he made during the campaign — that he would stay close to the ground, put residents first, and ensure their everyday concerns are addressed with action, not just words.
During the transition, the current managing agent, CPG Facilities Management, will continue operations in Jalan Kayu. Residents who pay S&CC via GIRO or credit card don’t need to make any changes, as their payments will be automatically transferred to the new town council.
Meanwhile, Jalan Kayu SMC residents can continue visiting the Fernvale Office at Blk 410 Fernvale Road for assistance.
As part of this change, Ang Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC) will be restructured to serve Ang Mo Kio GRC, Yio Chu Kang SMC, and Kebun Baru SMC. MP Henry Kwek will chair AMKTC, with Jasmin Lau and Darryl David as Vice-Chairs.
Ng’s latest move doesn’t just mark a structural update — it reinforces his credibility and his determination to follow through on the trust voters placed in him.
