A 37-year-old man has been accused of paying S$50 to a girl under the age of 12 for sexual services and molesting her over her clothes. Another 25-year-old man is also facing charges for sexually assaulting an underage girl. Both have been brought to court.
The Singapore Police Force said in a statement on Thursday (May 22) that six men aged between 22 and 41 were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department’s Specialised Crime Branch in connection with separate child sexual exploitation cases.
The two accused allegedly met the underage girls online and engaged in sexual activities offline.
Allegedly Paid S$50 for Sexual Services
According to the charges, one of the accused, Guo Chuanyuan (transliteration), 37, is alleged to have communicated with a girl under 12 between November 21 and 22 last year for the purpose of sex in exchange for payment.
Guo is also accused of paying the victim S$50 for sexual services at a flat in Choa Chu Kang around 6:30pm on Wednesday (May 21), during which he allegedly kissed and touched her private parts.
He was arrested on March 25 this year and now faces one charge of having commercial sex with a minor under 18, and another charge of engaging in sexual contact with a minor under 18 in exchange for payment.
Second Man Accused of Sexual Assault
The second accused, Lin Jia’en (transliteration), 25, allegedly forced a girl under 16 to perform oral sex and raped her at a flat in Jurong West on November 23, 2023.
He is also accused of reoffending on December 8 and 19, and of using a pink vibrator on the victim. Lin was arrested on July 5 last year.
He faces a total of eight charges of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16.
37-year-old Man Pleads Guilty
Guo has indicated his intention to plead guilty. His case has been adjourned to July 4. Lin’s case has been adjourned to June 20.
Under Section 376B of the Penal Code, engaging in commercial sex with a person under 18 can result in up to 7 years in jail, a fine, or both.
Under Section 376A, sexual assault of a minor between 14 and 16 can result in up to 10 years of imprisonment, a fine, or caning.
The police stressed that they take a zero-tolerance stance on child sexual exploitation and abuse and will spare no effort in protecting children from such harm.
