5 Men Aged 58 to 75 Investigated for Illegal Gambling in Aljunied

Five men between the ages of 58 and 75 are currently under police investigation for illegal gambling in the Aljunied area, reported Zaobao.

According to a statement by the Singapore Police Force on Friday (May 9), officers from Bedok Police Division conducted a raid on Tuesday (May 7) at Aljunied Avenue and busted an illegal gambling session.

During the operation, five men were caught on the spot. Officers also seized gambling items, including poker cards and $229 in cash, as evidence.

Investigations against all five men are still ongoing.

Under the Gambling Control Act, anyone found guilty of illegal gambling in Singapore can be fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to six months, or both.

Police warned that illegal gambling will be dealt with seriously, and urged the public to stay away from such activities. Those struggling with gambling addiction can call the National Council on Problem Gambling’s helpline at 1800-6-668-668 for support.
