An unsettling incident shook the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Thursday morning, resulting in a multitude of individuals needing medical attention. A total of 22 people were rushed to nearby hospitals following a harrowing multi-vehicle collision that unfolded unexpectedly along the AYE towards the Central Expressway before the Pan Island Expressway exit. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) promptly responded to the distress call at approximately 7.55 am, dispatching aid to the scene.
“Nine people were taken by SCDF to the National University Hospital, while another 13 were taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital,” stated the report from the scene, underlining the severity of the situation and the need for swift medical assistance. The aftermath of the accident was captured in a video shared within the Both Checkpoint Facebook group, revealing the chaos and damage caused by the collision, involving a van, a lorry, and two Causeway Link buses.
Evidence of the mayhem included multiple individuals seated on the road, with motorcycles haphazardly parked along the periphery, painting a stark picture of the commotion and urgency that ensued following the accident. Moreover, a post circulating in the same Facebook group exhibited individuals wandering around the accident site, showcasing the shattered windshield of a yellow Causeway Link bus, further demonstrating the intensity of the collision and its impact on the vehicles involved.
