Brigadier-General Goh Pei Ming, former Chief of General Staff of the Singapore Armed Forces, made a notable appearance at a community event in East Coast GRC on Sunday afternoon (Apr 6). This marked his second public appearance of the day, following a morning event in Punggol.
Goh Pei Ming attended the Caregiving Kampong @ East Coast festival held at Bedok North, in his capacity as Chairman of the Kampong Chai Chee Community Club Management Committee.
He was joined at the event by People’s Action Party (PAP) East Coast GRC MPs:
-
Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information and National Development
-
Cheryl Chan, MP for Fengshan
-
Jessica Tan, Deputy Speaker of Parliament
Goh Pei Ming was seen engaging with residents and taking photos alongside the MPs and volunteers.
He is one of three retired military officers seen as potential PAP candidates for the upcoming General Election. The other two are:
-
Dinesh Vasu Dash, former CEO of Vanguard Healthcare and retired SAF Brigadier-General, who spent over 20 years in service. He joined the PAP East Coast team on Saturday (Apr 5) during a walkabout in Joo Chiat, which will be part of East Coast GRC after the boundary changes.
-
David Neo, former Chief of Army (Major-General), who recently appeared with Tampines GRC MP Baey Yam Keng during a walkabout in that constituency.
Notably, Melissa Tan, a previously active new face in PAP’s East Coast team, has not been seen at the last two weeks of public events in the GRC.
At Sunday’s event, Tan Kiat How, Cheryl Chan, and Jessica Tan — attending in their roles as grassroots advisers — announced a partnership with Grab. Under the scheme, 3,000 eligible caregivers in East Coast will each receive a $100 Grab voucher to help offset transport and daily living expenses.
