Two cars collided, causing a BMW to lose control and spin out, crashing onto a pavement before stopping only after hitting a lamp post. During the incident, one of the BMW’s tyres flew off and hit a diner who was eating at a nearby restaurant. The diner was injured and sent to the hospital.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the accident happened on Saturday (March 29) at 8:55 AM. A BMW was travelling along Jalan Kayu heading towards Sengkang West Road when it tried to overtake a vehicle in front that was making a right turn into Jalan Tari Lilin. This caused the BMW to lose control and crash onto the pavement.
A diner named Jun (transliteration, 51 years old, engineer) revealed that he was sitting with two friends at an outdoor table at a restaurant, chatting when they suddenly heard a loud crash. The next moment, they saw a tyre flying towards them. They couldn’t avoid it in time, and the tyre hit his friend’s abdomen.
Observations showed that the black BMW ended up on the grass patch between the pavement and the restaurant, even knocking down a lamp post.
Mr. Lim (50 years old), the BMW owner, said during an interview that the car in front did not signal and was driving slowly, so he decided to overtake it.
However, as Mr. Lim accelerated to overtake, the vehicle in front suddenly turned right into Jalan Tari Lilin, causing the two vehicles to collide. The impact made the BMW spin out of control and crash onto the nearby pavement, with one of its tyres detaching and rolling into the nearby restaurant.
The driver of the car in front said that the BMW had already overtaken a taxi earlier. When he was about to make a turn, the BMW suddenly appeared from behind, causing his car’s right side to be hit. The car’s lights were shattered, and the body was dented.
The driver, who did not want to be named, said he was not injured. After parking his car at his nearby house, he returned to the scene of the accident and stated that everything would be handed over to the police for investigation.
The police confirmed that they received a report of the incident. A 55-year-old man was sent to the hospital in a conscious state. Another driver, a 52-year-old man, suffered minor injuries but refused to be taken to the hospital. He is currently assisting the police with their investigation.
