A woman has accused her male neighbour of taking out the trash in just his boxer shorts and “peeping” in her direction.

However, the man has denied the allegations, claiming instead that the woman harassed him, hurled insults, and even got physical.

Feud Between Neighbours Over Boxer Shorts and Alleged Peeping Incident

This dispute took place at Block 435B, Bukit Batok West Avenue 5, reported Zaobao.

The complainant, Ms. Zeng (50, self-employed), told reporters that she moved into the unit in mid-2023. During the renovation period, she noticed that a male neighbour was behaving suspiciously, making her feel uneasy.

She claimed that the man, who lives on the same floor, often walked along the corridor shirtless and had repeatedly “peeked” into her unit. Both she and her domestic helper had witnessed this behavior.

“During renovations, it was just me and my helper at home. Every time he passed by, he would only be wearing boxer shorts, sneaking around and peeping in. He would also tug at his boxer shorts as he walked by, it looked perverted. At first, I didn’t say anything, but after catching him multiple times, my husband finally stepped in to warn him to respect his neighbours,” she said

This confrontation allegedly led to tensions between the two households. Ms. Zeng recalled an incident where her husband caught the neighbour acting suspiciously and confronted him, which nearly escalated into a physical altercation.

“Someone was aggressively shouting at us while holding a stick. We called the police because of this, and a few months later, we installed security cameras,” she said.

Man Denies Accusations, Claims He’s the Victim

In response, the accused neighbour, Mr. Wang (50, semi-retired), denied the allegations and claimed that Ms. Zeng was the one making false accusations.

“I was just taking out the trash in my boxer shorts. What’s wrong with that? I never looked into her house,” he said.

Mr. Wang further alleged that in July 2023, Ms. Zeng and her husband stopped him in the corridor and even kicked his shin, causing him to take two days of medical leave. He also pointed out that Ms. Zeng’s husband himself had walked around in boxer shorts in the corridor.

Gum Littering Allegations: Woman Says Water Bill Skyrocketed

Ms. Zeng also reported another issue. After the Lunar New Year, she discovered multiple pieces of chewed gum outside her doorstep. She spent four to five hours reviewing security footage and believed that Mr. Wang was responsible.

“The security camera footage shows that whenever he walks by, gum appears on the floor. I even reported this to the police,” said Ms. Zeng.

She also lodged a complaint via the OneService app and is considering legal action.

“This is extremely unhygienic! Recently, we’ve been seeing more ants and cockroaches. If someone steps on the gum, it gets everywhere. I have to mop the floor daily, and my water bill has jumped from over $200 to more than $300. I really can’t take it anymore,” she said.

Upon inspection, there were at least 14 pieces of gum residue along the corridor, some hardened and blackened.

Town Council Responds

The Chua Chu Kang Town Council confirmed that they received a complaint on March 8 and have since cleaned up the gum.

Notices have also been put up to remind residents to dispose of waste properly.

“We take this opportunity to remind residents that littering is an offence and may result in fines,” the town council added.

The town council urged everyone to cooperate in maintaining a clean and comfortable living environment.

Man Accuses Woman of Harassment and Destroying His Plants

However, Mr. Wang denied littering the gum and claimed that he was the one being harassed. He said he had reported the matter to the police.

According to him, during last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, Ms. Zeng and her husband stormed to his unit, hurled verbal abuse at him, and smashed three potted plants worth $200.

“I called the police, and they arrested them on the spot. A month ago, I received an official notice stating that the investigation was closed and that she was given a 12-month conditional warning,” he said.

To support his claims, Mr. Wang presented reporters with recordings, videos, and official documents.

When questioned, Ms. Zeng flatly denied his accusations and insisted she had done nothing wrong.

As tensions between the two neighbours continue to escalate, it remains to be seen if any resolution can be reached—or if more drama will unfold.
