Sexual Assault by Ex-Head of PA Youth Network Sentenced to Jail

Former PA Youth Network Chief Receives Jail Term for Sexual Assault

The story of Ranjeet Prasad, the former People’s Association (PA) official sentenced to 10 years and six months in jail for sexually assaulting a teenage boy, is a harrowing tale of manipulation and abuse.

Manipulating the dreams of a 16-year-old aspiring singer and actor, Prasad took advantage of his position of authority to commit despicable acts. The judgment from March 3 detailed how Prasad’s actions negatively impacted the victim’s life, leaving him questioning his sexuality and future prospects.

According to the judgment, Prasad was found guilty of three counts of carnal intercourse against the order of nature, showcasing a total lack of remorse for his actions. District Judge John Ng, in his sentencing, highlighted the abuse of authority by Prasad and the detrimental effects it had on the victim.

Judge Ng emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “He had a girlfriend at that point in time, and the incidents had left him questioning his sexual orientation and prospects for marriage.”

The victim’s testimony revealed a disturbing sequence of events where Prasad preyed on the teenager’s aspirations and vulnerability. As the victim eagerly joined the youth network program, believing it aligned with his dreams of modeling and a career in arts, Prasad cunningly manipulated the situation for his predatory agenda.

The victim’s confusion and helplessness were palpable as Prasad gradually escalated his advances, ultimately coercing the teen into performing sexual acts through deceit and false promises.

Judge Ng’s observations during the trial emphasized the heinous nature of Prasad’s actions and the impact it had on the victim’s mental and emotional well-being. The victim’s inability to disclose the abuse due to fear and shame inflicted by Prasad’s exploitative tactics underlines the manipulative power dynamics at play in this tragic narrative.

Confronted by undeniable evidence and the victim’s detailed testimony, Prasad’s claims of innocence were rightfully dismissed by Judge Ng. The degree of corruption and exploitation exhibited by Prasad in pursuit of his lascivious aims served as aggravating factors in the sentencing.

In response to the incident, the People’s Association expressed serious concern and emphasized their commitment to upholding strict standards of conduct. Immediate action was taken to suspend Prasad upon learning of the charges, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding the well-being of youths under their care.

The painful story of Ranjeet Prasad and his abuse of power serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young individuals and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding their rights and well-being.
