The Singapore courts recently cleared a dismal situation when a construction worker was sentenced to 10 years of jail and six cane to the back for the brutal act of sexual assault that has come in the public eye where the media was published. Court has sentenced a 27-year-old Bangladeshi national Prodhan Sajib to the offense of rape one count of sexual penetration by oral copulation in which the local population is deeply shocked by.
According to court records, Sajib went to the massage parlor but was unable to pay for the full price of the service. When he was asked to go away, he instead closed the door and locked the door against a just woken up 32-year-old massage parlor girl. Although the victim struggled, Sajib proceeded to threaten her in an inherently physical manner. This demeaning behaviour in the end caused his victim to yield to his pressure on account of the fear of her own death.
The victim’s extreme decision to report the abuser’s assault to the police resulted in Sajib’s arrest, which subsequently resulted in repeated arrests in the police footage and psychiatric evaluation. Sajib claimed he committed the assault because of the post-treatment effects of a drug that he had been taking for 2 months prior to the commission of the assault because it would have increased his potency and pleasure sexual craving.
The court demanded his imprisonment of 10 to 11 years and 8 lashes, which essentially served the purpose of drawing attention to Sajibâ s gratuitously violent deeds motivated by perversion. Upon the court’s decision and the sentence imposed by the court, the seriousness of Sajib’s crimes stands out and rape is given criminal status and the maximum sentence of imprisonment is up to 20 years, and also canes or fines are imposed.
