Veteran entertainer Marcus Chin recently experienced a health scare that left him hospitalized after suffering a heart attack while filming. The seasoned actor, known for his contributions to Singapore’s entertainment industry spanning over four decades, was shooting a short film alongside actor Mark Lee when the incident occurred.
On October 7th, Chin, who is 71 years old, began to feel unwell just ten minutes into the filming session and took a short break. Although he briefly feel better when he return, he soon experienced symptoms including chills, sweating, chest pain, and difficulty breathing. Recognizing the severity of the situation, his co-star Mark Lee quickly called for medical assistance.
According to MS News, Chin was rushed to the National University Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with coronary artery disease caused by blockages in the arteries supplying oxygenated blood to his heart. The seriousness of his condition necessitated emergency coronary artery bypass surgery, during which one artery was fully blocked, and two others showed signs of blockage.
Following the successful one-hour operation, Chin is expected to undergo several days of observation in the hospital before potentially being discharged to recover at home. Doctors have advised him to refrain from work for at least a month for proper rest and recovery. This means that his upcoming commitments, including hosting gigs, singing performances, and leading tour groups, will need to be postponed or canceled.
Chin, a celebrated getai performer, radio host, and award-winning entertainer, had to abruptly halt his busy schedule due to this unforeseen health crisis. His agency, King Kong Media, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of care and well-wishes from fans and supporters and hoped for Chin’s prompt recovery.
