Woman fined $1,000 for stealing Deer Placenta in shopping mall

A woman has been sentenced to a fine of $1,000 for stealing Deer Placenta from a shopping mall in Singapore.

The incident, which was caught on CCTV, took place at The Clementi Mall in February last year. The woman, identified as Wang Ke Ling, admitted to one count of theft while the other charge was taken into consideration by the judge, reported Zaobao.

On the morning of 18 February 2023, Wang visited a store at The Clementi Mall. She was seen browsing the shelves before discreetly taking three bottles of Deer Placenta with a total value of $448.20. Each bottle was priced at $149.40.

Later that day, the store employee discovered the missing items during a stock check.

Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, the employee identified Wang’s act of theft and promptly reported it to the authorities. Wang was arrested on 4 March, and only one bottle of Deer Placenta was recovered. Wang has since fully compensated the store for the stolen items.

During the trial, Wang Ke Ling pleaded guilty to the theft charge. The judge took into account the circumstances of the case and the defendant’s cooperation in the investigation.

As a result, a fine of $1,000 was imposed as the final verdict.
