Man arrested within 8 hours for allegedly stealing motorcycle

A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle. He was arrested eight hours after the police were notified.

In a press release on Monday (29 January), the Singapore Police Force said that they were alerted to a case of theft of a motorcycle.

According to the report, the vehicle was missing from where it was originally parked. After investigations and reviewing CCTV footage, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division identified the suspect and arrested him the following day.

The stolen vehicle was later found at Yishun Ring Road.

Reportedly, the man will be charged in court on 30 January. If convicted, he could face up to seven years of imprisonment, in addition to a fine.

The police advise all motorcycle owners to park their vehicles in well-lit areas, install anti-theft alarms, cover them with canvas and secure both ends, or use additional locking devices.

The police also remind owners to remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended, and do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
