A 6-year-old boy suffered a broken arm after an accident at a playground in Sengkang.

The incident occurred when he tripped over a hole on the ground, resulting in a serious injury. The boy had followed his family’s helper to the playground near Block 123B Rivervale Drive last Wednesday (22 March 2023) while she took the family’s pet dog out for an evening walk.

The helper did not notice the boy had fallen until she heard him crying. The boy’s mother, Mdm Yang, rushed him to the hospital where an X-ray revealed he had broken a bone and dislocated several others in his left arm. He had to undergo surgery and have steel fixtures inserted in his arm to aid recovery.

Mdm Yang spent $9,900 on medical fees so far and plans to claim this from the Sengkang Town Town Council. The Sengkang Town Council has since fixed the hole in the ground.
