11 food and beverage businesses in Singapore have been awarded the Farm-to-Table Recognition Programme certification for purchasing at least 15% of their food supply from local farms.

The programme, launched by the Singapore Food Agency, allows a business to attain the certification if 15% of their total procurement value for eggs, leafy vegetables, beansprouts or fish are from local farms. The certification is divided into three levels, with the highest level achieved by businesses that procure locally in three or more food categories.

The initiative aims to promote sustainability and support local farmers, while reducing the carbon footprint of transporting produce. The programme has been developed by the Singapore Food Agency in collaboration with the Singapore Professional Catering Association, the Restaurant Association of Singapore and the Singapore Hotel Association.

The 11 certified businesses include FOC Sentosa, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa, Open Farm Community and food supplier Foodtalks.
