A 43-year-old former lecturer at the National University of Singapore (NUS) has been charged with molestation.

The accused, Jeremy Fernando, is a Singaporean who allegedly molested a woman on July 4, 2020, at around 4 am at her residence. Due to a gag order, the identity of the victim and location of the offence have not been disclosed. If convicted, Fernando could face up to two years in jail, a fine, caning, or any combination of these punishments.

Fernando was a non-resident lecturer at Tembusu College but was dismissed after two students filed complaints of inappropriate behavior. The accused was granted bail of S$10,000 and his case has been adjourned until April 21.
