FairPrice’s first big-scale live prawn sale at car parks next to 3 outlets

Only 1,000kg of prawns is up for sale each day, while stocks last. And each person is limited to purchasing a maximum of 5kg.

It’s a steal!

The live tiger prawns are going for S$19.90/ compared to the current market rate of S$29.90/kg.

The sale will take place at the car parks next to three FairPrice supermarket outlets on the following days and times:

18 January, 10 am: FairPrice Block 192 Toa Payoh Lorong 4

19 January, 9 am: FairPrice Kang Kar Mall

20 January, 9 am: FairPrice Block 212 Bedok North Street 1

In case you’re wondering why the Chinese eat prawns during Chinese New Year, here’s why. Prawns in Cantonese is “ha” which echoes the sound of ringing laughter.

According to tradition, when you eat prawns, you will be filled with happiness and laughter, so the more you eat, the happier your family will be in the new year. Huat Ah!
