Car suspected of losing control crashes into River Valley bus stop, police searching for missing driver

A car, suspected of losing control, had crashed into a bus stop, near a junction between Clemenceau Avenue and River Valley Road. However, when the police arrived at the scene, the driver was nowhere to be seen.

The incident took place at around 6am on 24 November, reported Zaobao.

According to the report, a reader who passed by the scene of the crash told the reporter that when passing by the scene at around 7am in the morning, they saw a car crash over one of the safety bollards, completely uprooting it from the ground. Two stone benches and one of the pillars also sustained significant damage, and the whole area was in a mess.

The police officers could be seen at the scene, but there wasn’t an ambulance to attend to anyone as the driver had apparently disappeared, likely having fled the scene.

In the photos provided, a grey car can be seen crashing into the bus stop. The area was also in a mess as the pillars and benches were damaged from the accident.

When a reporter from Shin Min Daily News visited the scene, there were no passengers waiting for the bus at the bus stop where the accident took place.

The authorities had also cordoned off the bus stop as several workers were seen cleaning up the area.

According to observations, the location of the bus stop is relatively remote, and it is believed that the time of the incident was too early, and no one was injured.

During the period, bus services will not be affected, and buses will still stop at bus stops for passengers to board and alight. The driver of the car was reported to have disappeared when police arrived.

Police told Shin Min Daily News that the car was believed to have skidded before ramming into the bus stop. Investigations are still ongoing and they are in the midst of trying to locate the missing driver.
