A woman who visited Haw Par Villa has come under fire for walking over some of the dioramas in Haw Par Villa, one of the oldest theme parks in Singapore dating back to 1937.

According to Zaobao, the woman who goes by the name Annie Xu on TikTok, has recently posted a series of photos and video clips of her posing with the exhibits at Haw Par Villa like a regular visitor, some of the videos also showed her stepping all over the structures in her high heels.

In her one particular video, which has since garnered almost 20,000 views, she was seen wearing a white dress and high heels, not only she was seen stepping all over the structures, she was also seen touching and fondling the very shy part of the sculpture.

Tsk tsk tsk.

While it is unknown if the woman is a local or a tourist, netizens who saw her video were quite mad and unhappy with her antics, with some urging her to refrain from touching the art pieces or stepping on the dioramas.

In response to the videos, Haw Par Villa released an official statement on Facebook saying they were “disappointed” by this visitor’s behaviour.

“Her actions are irresponsible as they not only endanger herself but will also damage the art works. Furthermore, the works reflect Asian cultural values and ethical behaviour which sadly was not displayed by the visitor,” said the theme park.

The management also added that they appreciate the comments on the TikTok video asking for the visitor to respect the works of art, the spokesperson also pointed out that the comments attacking the visitor’s nationality are inappropriate and unnecessary.

“As Singaporeans, we welcome all nationalities and communities to visit Haw Par Villa and we strive to create a common space for all to enjoy the beautiful works of art on display,” the management continued.

Please ah please, if you are visiting Har Paw Villa, please take note of the Dos and Don’ts ok.
