4 teenagers arrested for allegedly assaulting and robbing 2 other younger teens

A case of robbery involving four teenagers had taken place along the back lane of Arab Street, reported Zaobao.

Four teenagers were allegedly bullying and attacking two other younger teens. The four teenagers also reportedly fled the scene after robbing the two younger boys of their mobile phones and also $20 cash.

In a statement issued by the police on 5 August, the police said that they received a report of the assault case at 9.40pm on 5 August. Preliminary investigations show that the four teenagers were aged between 18 and 19.

They had allegedly assaulted two teenagers, aged 14 and 16, along the back lane of Arab Street.

The four teenagers demanded the victims to hand over their mobile phones and cash. Out of fear, the two victims complied and handed over $20 cash and a handphone each to the group which then fled the scene.

Both victims suffered some bruises and lacerations.

The four young perpetrators were identified later and arrested by the police within a day.

They were scheduled to be charged on 6 August with voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery. If convicted, they can face five to 20 years of imprisonment and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
