A TikTok video showing a maid physically abusing an old man has gone viral.

In the TikTok video shared by TikTok user @Sgxiaohujun (which has now been removed), the woman was seen tugging at the elderly man’s arms and appeared to have smacked his head.

The incident took place at about 2.30pm on 28 Feb (Monday) at Block 53 Strathmore Avenue, reported Zaobao.

A 33-years-old housewife who happened to witness the incident told the reporter in an interview that she and her child were passing when the child found a squirrel and asked her to take a picture of it with her mobile phone. And from where she was, she saw a maid hitting a wheelchair-bound old man in his head.

“The entire process was about two minutes. The maid kept smacking the old man on his head. Later, the old man raised his arms to resist and she started tugging his arms. I quickly took a video of the incident to keep as proof. But I couldn’t stand watching it any longer, so I went forward to scold the maid.”

According to the witness, the old man was not wearing a mask. When she stepped forward to approach the both of them, the maid quickly put on a mask for the old man and quickly left the scene with the old man.

Worried about the situation of the old man, the housewife then followed the two to Dawson Place in Queenstown where her husband joined her.

“My husband took the video and asked the old man if he was beaten. The maid hurriedly stopped him and said that she was just playing around with him and wanted to leave with the old man,” said the housewife.

They both then decided to call the police and contacted the old man’s son as well, “When we refused to let her leave, the maid started begging us to let her go. If she really had a clear conscience, why did she want to leave in such a hurry?”

The police confirmed that they received a call for help and that a 36-year-old woman is now assisting with investigations into a case of voluntarily causing hurt.
