Malaysian influencer Qiu Wen (秋雯)’s recent post on social media has sparked some heated discussion among netizens recently.

On 15th February, just a day after Valentine’s Day, the 26-year-old influencer took to her social media platform, XiaoHongShu / 小红书 in Chinese (literal meaning Little Red Book), to share her thoughts and her fine dining experience at a high-end restaurant.

Malaysian Influencer fine dining

While the place looked sibei lavish and the food served also looked sibei delicate, the influencer with more than 868,000 followers on her Instagram, however, said that she didn’t quite enjoy the fine dining experience.

In her opinion, she thinks that fine dining is all about the sense of ceremony and experience. While Qiu Wen said she didn’t exactly enjoy the food, she did commend the restaurant for being attentive as they would explain each dish to their patrons when serving the food.

“When I dine at other restaurants in the past, I’ve encountered waiters who would simply serve the dish and leave after speaking a string of English that I didn’t understand,” she added.

Even though the food served didn’t quite impress Qiu Wen, she added that the 8-course dinner did make her very full nevertheless. She revealed that the entire dinner took 3 hours, and it cost about RM 1,000 (about SGD $320) per person.

“It’s a bit of a waste of time but having it once in a while is ok,” she wrote.

Qiu Wen then concluded her post by saying: “I still prefer my own Cocoa replacement meal haha”.

Who else can’t appreciate Fine Dining like me 😅

To me, Fine Dining is about combining all the rare and special food together.

Because I am a vegetarian, therefore the food prepared for me is all vegetarian food.

I didn’t feel that the food was particularly delicious, nor did I think it tasted bad.

I just felt that it’s not worth it, maybe it’s because I haven’t eaten any that is really delicious and worth it.

The only time I was surprised was when I dine at Entier in Alila. It makes me want to go back again.

I guess Fine Dining to me is all about the sense of ceremony and experience.

This restaurant is pretty attentive as they would explain each and every dish to me patiently.

I’ve patronised other restaurants in the past, and the staff would just serve the dish and leave after speaking a string of English that I didn’t understand

The food in the pictures is all vegetarian food. There are 8 courses in total and it made me very full.

It took 3 hours. It’s a bit of a waste of time but having it once in a while is ok.

The total cost after adding the wine is about RM 1,000 per person.

In conclusion: I still prefer my own Cocoa replacement meal haha.

OMGWTFBBQ $320 for a dinner oh my tian, lao niang’s poor ass cannot relate leh.

Better stick to my cheap cheap Cai Png from my house downstairs that Rice Garden at NTUC FoodFare. 1 meat plus 2 vegetables $3.00 niah. Some more if I flash my union member card is only $2.50! Cheap and good, and can jiak ba ba.
