Security Officers will be able to enjoy higher salaries along with shortened working hours, we heard!

This announcement came after the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and the Union of Security Employees (USE) said that they will be making key recommendations to solve the long-term problems faced by security officers, such as excessive working hours and harassment by others while working on the front line, reported Zaobao.

In a Facebook post today (9 November), NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng said that NTUC and the USE, together with the Security Association of Singapore and Association for Certified Security Agencies, are committed to pushing hard for significant changes to the Progressive Wage Model (PWM) for the security industry, and they are determined to transform the industry and raise its professionalism.

He also added that both NTUC and USE will also put forward recommendations to solve the long-standing issues such as excessive working hours as well as the challenges faced by security officers at the frontline including harassment and abuse.

“Security officers can look forward to much higher wage increases and shorter working hours which will allow them more time to rest and spend quality time with their families,” said the NTUC labour chief.

In his Facebook post, Ng encourage the security officers to continue upskilling so that they can improve their productivity with the help of technology.

He also urges more security buyers and providers to plan for their security needs from a more holistic level and adopt outcome-based contracting (OBC) to optimise security manpower by leveraging technology for the best security outcomes, so that workers will take pride in being productive and will be aspired to progress further in their jobs, he added.
