The Ministry of Health (MOH) has called for Singapore’s fake news law to be served to a local website called “Truth Warriors” for anyhowly spreading fake news about the effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines, and the safety and efficacy of ivermectin in preventing and treating Covid-19.

On 24 October, MOH said that Health Minister Ong Ye Kung had instructed the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) Office to issue a correction direction to the Truth Warriors website.

Fake news which the “Truth Warriors” has been spreading

Here are the fake news which “Truth Warriors” has been spreading, which MOH has pointed out to be FALSE:

Fake news 1: Vaccinated countries have the most cases and deaths per million population, and the least vaccinated countries have the fewest cases and deaths per million population.

MOH said that as of 23 October, international evidence shows categorically that vaccines reduce Covid-19 infection, as well as serious illness and mortality rates from Covid-19 infection.

Latest available data also does not support the claim that countries with the highest vaccination rates have the highest cases and deaths per million population.

In contrary to what the “Truth Warriors” has claimed, countries with the lowest vaccination rates also have low reported Covid-19 deaths is likely due to poor record collection for both vaccinations and deaths.

Fake news 2: Vaccines do not prevent the transmission of Covid-19

While vaccines do not completely stop viral transmission, BUT hor, they do reduce the risk of transmission leh. This is because vaccinated persons are less likely to transmit the virus than an unvaccinated person.

Although vaccines do not kill the virus directly, but the vaccines do cause the body to produce antibodies and immune cells that act against the virus and, in effect, kill it, said MOH.

Fake News 3: Ivermectin is safe and effective in treating Covid-19

MOH also debunked claims made by the website about the effectiveness of ivermectin in preventing Covid-19 infection, and that the medication is safe and effective for use against the virus, even by pregnant women.

HELLO, MAI SIAO OK?

Ivermectin is a prescription-only medicine registered in Singapore specifically for the treatment of parasitic worm infections.

Not only it is not an anti-viral medicine, but it is also not approved by the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) for preventing or treating Covid-19.

KNS. Change your name to Fake Warriors lah.

Please ah please, can don’t anyhow spread fake news a not? If you cannot provide constructive help, at least don’t create more trouble? By anyhowly spreading fake news might end up killing someone you know?
