A total of 1.7 million Singaporeans will be notified by 5 Jul of their 2019 GST Voucher (GSTV) benefits and Medisave top-ups, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said on 26 Jun.
The GSTV is a permanent scheme introduced in 2012, with benefits given out yearly to help lower and middle-income Singaporeans offset some of their GST expenses. This year, about 1.4 million Singaporeans will receive GSTV – Cash of up to $300 each. Amounting to S$410 million in total.
Singaporeans aged 21 and above will also receive an additional GSTV – Cash (Bicentennial Payout) of up to S$300 in Nov.
520,000 Singaporeans aged 65 and above will receive up to S$450 of MediSave top-ups in Aug. The top-ups will amount to about S$152 million.
As announced in Budget 2019, Singaporeans who are born on or before 31 Dec1969 (50 years and above in 2018) and do not receive Pioneer Generation (PG) or Merdeka Generation (MG) benefits will also receive a Medisave top-up of S$100 annually from 2019 to 2023.
Eligible HDB households will receive a GSTV – U-Save of up to $400 and S&CC rebate, depending on their flat size.
Eligible citizens with mobile numbers updated with SingPass will receive SMS notifications while others will receive letter notifications in July.
Most citizens will automatically receive their payouts if they have signed up for the GSTV or any other government payout scheme in the past. However, if you have not, you are encouraged to do so online, or at community centres by 31 Dec.
