On 13 Jun, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Finance (MOF) announced that eligible seniors under the Pioneer Generation and Merdeka Generation packages would receive MediSave top-ups in July.
These Medisave top-ups amount to a total of S$270 million and may be used to pay for MediShield Life premiums and other MediSave-approved insurance plans. The funds may also be used for hospitalisation, day surgery and approved outpatient treatment bills, the ministries said in a press release.
Eligible seniors for the Merdeka Generation Package would be notified by mail, informing them of the benefits they will receive. Meanwhile, the Pioneer Generation seniors will receive the information this coming week.
The Merdeka Generation package, meant for Singaporeans born between 1 Jan 1950 and 31 Dec 1959, gives an annual MediSave top-up of S$200 for five years between 2019 and 2023.
Seniors under the Pioneer Generation package will receive annual MediSave top-ups between S$200 and S$800, depending on the year of their birth. Only Singaporeans born on or earlier than 31 Dec 1949, and had attained citizenship by the end of 1986 are eligible for the package.
