Dashcam footage of a woman being hit by a taxi when she was jaywalking at Lavender Street near Kempas Road while using her mobile phone had surfaced online.

The accident happened at 3.12pm on 5 Apr. The footage shows the woman seemingly on a phone call as she scurried across the road amidst the stationary traffic. She did not use the designated pedestrian crossing.

After knocking down the woman at the left-most lane with his taxi, the driver got out of his cab and helped her. Thankfully, she was still able to stand. The driver then guided her to the nearby sidewalk.

Accidents are not always inevitable. Always watch out for cars when you are crossing the road. Do not use your phone as you walk. Better be safe than sorry.
