GOOD NEWS! There will be seven long weekends, with holidays falling either on a Friday or Monday in 2020.
Of the 11 public holidays, four fall on a Friday, while the three others fall on a Sunday. For holidays that fall on a Sunday, the following Monday will be a public holiday.
The Friday holidays are Good Friday (10 Apr), Labour Day (1 May), Hari Raya Haji (31 Jul) and Christmas (25 Dec).
The Sunday holidays are Chinese New Year (26 Jan), Hari Raya Puasa (24 May) and National Day (9 Aug).
Do take note that if you are required to work on a public holiday, you are entitled to an extra day’s salary at the basic rate of pay. You can also come to an agreement with your employer to substitute a public holiday for another working day.
