Singaporeans are advised to refrain from traveling to Pakistan, and India unnecessarily, due to the escalating tensions between both countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on 27 Feb.
Both countries have always been in conflict over disputed Indian Kashmir. However, the tension had skyrocketed on 14 Feb after a suicide bombing in Kashmir that killed 40 troops.
Meanwhile, flights to Jammu and Kashmir, and various Indian states including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand, had been canceled. Pakistan airspace and several airports in India had been closed since.
MFA advised all Singaporeans who are in India or Pakistan to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. “Do stay in touch with your family and friends in Singapore so that they know you are safe,” MFA added.
