Singapore’s security agencies were ordered to “exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions”

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said in Parliament on 15 Jan that tensions had escalated when the number of Malaysian government vessels in Singapore’s waters increased from two to five during the visit of Johor Chief Minister Osman Sapian to a Malaysian ship.

Dr. Ng mentioned that such acts are contradictory to the official stated policy of the Malaysian government and this would only do lasting harm to bilateral ties.

With the aim of constructive discussions and peaceful resolution of the dispute, Singapore’s security agencies were ordered to “exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions.” Dr. Ng added that Singapore’s security personnel would continue to “press” the Malaysian vessels to withdraw from Singapore territorial waters.

Singapore’s security agencies had responded to the provocation promptly, doubling the total number of vessels in the area.

If the older Dr up-north, don’t understand, Lim Peh tell you. Don’t think we will keep giving in to your provocations hor, there might be consequences that you will regret.
