A report by LinkIn revealed, the top five emerging jobs in Singapore are data scientist, cyber-security specialist, user experience designer, head of digital and content specialist.
These jobs grew 3 to 17 times from 2013 to 2017. The roles of these job might be technology related, however you need to be not only smart in digital technology but also have the “soft skills” such as management and communication.
“Digital competence, as we now know, is composed by a blend of hard and soft skills,” said Ms Feon Ang, LinkedIn’s vice-president
“This competition for talent will only grow fiercer, so organisations need to build an adaptable workforce. According to the report, due to the shortage of candidates with such hybrid skill sets in Singapore, many of these openings are filled by foreign talents.
Since 2017, 21.95 per cent of data scientists on LinkedIn in Singapore are from India, for cyber-security specialists, 19.35 per cent came from India.
Talents from the United States took up 14.29 per cent of user experience designer roles, while 15.69 per cent of head of digital roles were held by people from Australia. Talent from the United Kingdom took up 14.49 per cent of content specialist roles.
