With more perverts targeting媚媚on public transport, The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has piloted a plan for volunteers from Citizens On Patrol (COP) to patrol train stations.

Superintendent of Police Alan Wong, head of operations for public transport security command says that as police cannot be omnipresent at all MRT stations, more volunteers helping to do surveillance will serves as additional deterrence.

Volunteers deployed in group of seven, will help police keep a look out for perverts targeting媚媚 and other suspicious characters as well as distribute crime prevention brochures.

A pilot run by a COP group from Queenstown’s Mei Ling Zone Residential Committee was conducted on 13th Aug. SPF plans to involve 700 COP groups islandwide to patrol MRT stations.

Beside train stations, the police will also be ramping up anti-molestation efforts at nightclubs. They will launch a campaign to educate club-goers on how to protect themselves against such crimes.
