This year, civil servants will receive a 0.5 month mid-year bonus and a one-off payment of at least $300 in July.

Some 1,450 lower-wage workers will take home a higher lump-sum of $500.

Civil servants in Grade V of the Operations Support Scheme (lower-income group) will have a built-in wage increase of $20 on top of their annual increment.

In case you’re wondering why this year July’s payment so “ho sei” (good in Hokkien), it’s probably because of the positive economic outlook and declining retrenchment in the first quarter of 2018.

Ms Cham Hui Fong, Assistant Secretary-General of NTUC, said she hopes our private sector companies “will take cue to reward their workers duly and fairly”.
