Flight 1350 was heading from Changsha to Beijing when a man tried to use a fountain pen to hold a flight attendant “under duress”.

The aircraft was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport in Henan. Security officers and troops were deployed to deal with the situation.

Chinese security agencies have released the video to media for publishing.

The standoff came to an end when three plainclothes (but armed) police officers rushed towards the assailant, successfully separating him from the victim and reliving him of his weapon.

The man was then dragged into a police van.

The passenger was identified as a 41-yr old man bearing the surname of Xu with a history of mental illness.

All other passengers on board the flight had been evacuated successfully through the panes back exit and no one else was hurt in the incident.
