A 44-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (March 31) for allegedly molesting a woman at Blk 143 Jalan Bukit Merah and a 40-year-old man was arrested on Sunday (April 1) for allegedly molesting a woman at the SGX Centre in Shenton Way in two separate incidents.
Investigations against both men are ongoing.
The first case:
Preliminary investigations revealed that the 44-year-old man had followed the victim to her block at Blk 143 Jalan Bukit Merah and tried to befriend her. He then allegedly molested the victim outside her unit. The victim filed a Police report on 30 March and Officers from Central Police Division followed up on the report to establish the identity of the man and arrested him on 31 March 2018.
The second case:
Preliminary investigations, the man was doing renovation work in the victim’s office at the SGX Centre when he ran into her.
The incident took place in the morning, while the pair were in the office pantry. The woman filed a Police report on Sunday and Officers from Central Police Division were able to establish the man’s identity and arrested him on the same day for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
Anyone convicted for the offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354 (1) of the Penal Code may be punished with imprisonment of up to two years, or fined, and is also liable to caning.
