Someone made fun of insurance agents, and someone else stood up for them

 insurance agents

A social media platform made a meme, clearly to mock insurance agents – comparing them to zombies. The comments that popped up also carried on the mocking; from childish “advice” on how to avoid them and making fun of these insurance agents and the work they do.

This lone comment stood out for us:

insurance agents

In case you can’t read it, here it is in text (edited for clarity):

“I met my insurance agent through one of these road shows at Jurong Point more than a decade ago in my early 20s.

I witnessed his hard work and he climbed from the bottom to the top. Now we have become very good friends.

I asked him once “Will you want to do road show again since there was so many rejections?”

His reply was earnest “If I didn’t do any road show back then, i wont be where I am now and I won’t have known all of u.”

(It takes) self-driven force and diligence for them to be a successful agent. Now my whole family buys policies from him.

Sometimes, in order to success in what u do, u probably have to do something that most people don’t want to do.”

Yes, we can make fun of them, detest them and find them ever so pesky. But it takes a lot to go out in the world, sometimes under the sun and face a flood of rejections. Not knowing if you’ll ever be paid for the work that you put in.

So instead of making fun of them, what say we learn about the spirit of tenacity from these chaps?
