A man went to sign up for a new mobile phone with a contract and sell the new contracted phone together with the sim card for $300. The buyer assured to the man that the mobile phone contract would be terminated with no charges to be incurred by him and handed him the phone.

The man was later saddled with mobile phone bills he received, as the buyer did not terminate the contract. He tried to contact the buyer but he went uncontactable so he decided to file a Police report.

Through extensive ground inquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspects and arrested them on 14 March 2018.

The police have arrested four men aged between 19 and 20 for a series of mobile phone contract scam.
