Man arrested for house trespass at Pulau Ubin

The police have arrested a 30-year-old man for house trespass at Pulau Ubin on 12 March 2018.

On 11 March 2018, the police received a report that an unknown man had entered into a shop house at Pulau Ubin without the occupant’s consent.

Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from the Police Coast Guard managed establish the identity of the man and arrested him along Tanah Merah Coast Road.

The man will be charged in Court on 14 March 2018 with the offence of Lurking House Trespass, punishable under section 453 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

The police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;
  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewelry in a safe deposit box;
  • Install a burglar alarm, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
