The victim had transferred money to a seller on Carousell to purchase two tickets to USS.  However, she only received one e-ticket, which was established to be invalid after the victim made checks with USS.

Through extensive ground enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 22 February 2018.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect had paid others to provide their bank accounts to him for his use to commit online scams. He is also involved in other similar cases of cheating.

The suspect was charged in Court on 23 February 2018 with the offence of Cheating which is punishable with an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
