The stolen scripts come from 4 Singaporean Junior Colleges (Anderson JC, Anglo-Chinese JC, Hwa Chong Institution and Nanyang JC).

Apparently, the theft happened on 16 November 2017 while the exam answer scripts were in transit from Cambridge Assessment’s office to the examiner for marking.

A parcel containing the scripts was stolen from a locked courier van, together with seven other unrelated parcels.

A police report was made on the same day. Until today, the case remains under police investigation in the UK and the scripts have not been recovered.

The timing of the news comes on the same day as the candidates received their results (23 February).

The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) said that affected students have a choice of accepting the awarded grades or retaking the exam again.

The awarded grades are projected grades that used the candidate’s marks in Papers 1, 2 and 4 to work out the candidate’s position in terms of percentile ranking within the cohort. The ranking was then used to derive the missing Paper 3 mark which is then projected to a total mark to be worked out and a grade awarded.

Those who wish to retake the H2 Chemistry Paper 3 have a choice of taking the paper on 25 April or in November 2018.
