SPH Magazines, the site’s owner said in a news release yesterday (20 February) that approximately 685,000 user profiles were affected.

An undidentified hacker accessed a senior moderator’s account and used it to “retrieve user profile data which comprised name, email address and user ID, and possible optional data fields”.

Fortunately, the breach did not involve NRIC numbers, telephone numbers and addresses as these data had been purged in line with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) guidelines in July 2015.

SPH Magazines said that a police report has been lodged and PDPC has been informed.
