The BMW car belonged to a doctor at the hospital. It was abandoned in Scotts Road, near Newton MRT station.

The doctor had apparently drove to the hospital’s Basement carpark at about 2pm on Friday. When she could not find a parking lot, she stopped her car at the side and left her car key in the car and left.

Usually, a valet service staff will move the car in to a lot when it is available.

The doctor returned to the carpark about 3.45pm and discovered that her car was missing.

It is understood that the suspect is not a patient of the doctor.

Police are currently investigating the matter.

If convicted of motor vehicle theft, the suspect may face a jail term of up to 7 years and a fine.
