Parents who have kids studying at two international schools – Tanglin Trust School and UWC South East Asia, please take note.

There were two separate incidents within a space of a few days at these two schools.

The chief executive of Tanglin Trust School told parents that a female student was walking to the school on Portsdown Road on 16 Jan when two occupants in a van tried to lure her to get in.

She was walking from one-north MRT station when the van stopped near her. When she ignored their calls, the two occupants got out of the van and continued to entice her.

Fortunately, she quickly moved away and arrived safely in school.

The student reported this incident to the school and the school made a police report, requesting for higher police presence around the area.

Students from Tanglin Trust were advised to walk with friends in the vicinity of the school and avoid walking alone.

At UWC South East Asia, a middle school female student was approached by a man driving in a van on 11 Jan. He drove alongside her on Dover Road while she was waiting for her bus.

He called to her from the road and told her to get into the van but she ignored and walked away in the opposite direction. She also did the right thing by informing a known adult.

This issue was also reported to the police.

The police has identified the van driver in one of the incidents and is currently conducting investigations. The police urged the public not to speculate while investigations are ongoing.
