According to the Singapore Customs, the woman was arrested when she tried to exit the baggage area through the Customs Green Channel without declaring the handbags and accessories for GST payment.

After her bag was checked by Customs officials, she was found to have goods worth more than $11,000 on her.
Investigations are ongoing.
For travellers who arrive back in Singapore, GST for goods valued below $150 is not applicable for those who are out of Singapore for less than 48 hours.
Those who are away for more than 48 hours, GST is exempt for goods valued up to $600.
According to the Singapore Customs website, “It is the responsibility of travellers to make an accurate and complete declaration of all goods exceeding their duty-free concession and GST relief in their possession, including goods carried for or on behalf of other persons.”
Travellers are to proceed to the RED channel if they are carrying:
- Dutiable goods exceeding your duty-free concession; or
- Goods exceeding your GST relief; or
- Controlled or restricted goods; or
- Prohibited goods
