Man ran 21km with engagement ring in pocket and proposes to girlfriend at finishing line

This is probably the best thing that happened at the Standard Chartered Marathon 2017. It’ll also be the sweetest thing you’ll read today.

Willie, one of the participants, got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Karen after crossing the finishing line.

It was his girlfriend’s first ever half-marathon race and the avid runner wanted to do something sweet for her.

He has been wanting to propose to her and finally found the right moment to do so.

Willie actually got her a solitaire but decided to use his mum’s engagement ring to remember this symbolic event. He said it was even more precious because it is a 30-year-old ring.
