A viral video circulating online shows a man shouting at a Thai airport staff for giving them 250 baht (S$10) meal vouchers each, claiming that it is insufficient to buy a bowl of noodles for 360 baht (S$15).

The female airport staff was overheard telling him to “calm down” but the man continued to vent his frustrations on her.

He was one of the many passengers who were stranded at Suvarnabhumi airport for almost 24 hours from Wednesday (Nov 29).

Jetstar flight 3K1514 was supposed to depart Bangkok at 9.20pm (Bangkok time) on Wednesday but it got pushed back to 2.45pm on Thursday.

Passengers were provided overnight accommodation at an inn.

When they arrived at the airport the next day, they realised that the display board was flashing information for a Hong Kong Airlines flight to Hong Kong instead.

At around 4pm, passengers found out through email that their flight had been moved to 8pm.

Jetstar said both flights were delayed because of engineering requirements. There was a series of technical issues with the aircraft.

Travel delays are usually covered under travel insurance.

For instance, NTUC income pays out a cash benefit of $100 for adults and $50 for children for travel delay of more than six hours while they are overseas. This amount is for every full six hours in a row of delay.

This means that passengers on the Jetstar flight, who bought NTUC Income travel insurance, could claim up to $400 for the 24-hour flight delay.

This travel delay payout could vary for different insurance companies.
