For those of you who don’t know, a war between two Murtabak restaurants along Sultan Road has been brewing for years.

Two years ago, a violent slashing incident happened in August 2015 along Arab Street. Police investigations found that Zam Zam owner Zackeer Abbass Khan contacted his business partner who was a headman of the Sio Ang Koon secret society to slash Victory restaurant supervisor Liakath Ali Mohamed Ibrahim’s face.

The attacker, a member of the secret society, was apprehended and sentenced to 6 1/2 years jail and 6 strokes of the cane.

You think that’s the end of the story? Well no.

Recently, Zam Zam accused their rival of using black magic to cast a curse upon their premises.

They claimed that a CCTV clip had captured a person from Victory pouring a powdered substance in front of their shop last Friday (17 Nov) night.

But the claim was refuted by Victory. It turns out that there was nothing supernatural about the video. In fact, it was just an innocent employee pouring powdered insecticide to rid their premises of pests.

Victory also posted a clarification statement on their own Facebook page to assure customers that it was nothing wrong.

But in the same post, they took the chance to cho-chok their rival.

“Also for your information none of our employees were caught by police for attacking a neighbour restaurant staff like some OTHER guys who spread fake news, we always believe in the right business in right way .”

So much drama…over Murtabak…maybe Suria can consider this for their next drama serial…
