AirAsia boss say Changi’s T4 is a model airport of the future

AirAsia’s boss Tony Fernandes has never been nice to airports. Even he admitted himself. But he was full of praise for Changi Airport’s latest Terminal 4 (T4).

“In 16 years, I have never praised any airport, so this is a big step for me and a huge endorsement for Changi,”

He said T4 is a “model airport of the future” for budget carriers and said all other airports, especially Kuala Lumpur International Airport, should learn from Changi.

The key difference between T4 and the other three terminals is the start-to-end automated process, starting from check-in all the way to boarding.

The use of technology results in manpower savings of up to 20% and boosts overall capacity.

It also means that lower costs will allow AirAsia to offer customers lower fares, according to Mr Fernandes.
